Our Membership Committee chair, Jessica Petro, is working hard to make our initial goal, to sign on at least 300 PTA members by October 1st, during our fall membership drive. PTA membership is annual (from July 1st through June 30th), and needs to be renewed each year as the PTA is required to file an annual tax report. The PTA is a non-profit organization, so your PTA membership fee is tax deductible in the year that it’s paid!
If you and your family have already joined or renewed your membership, thank you!! If you have not yet joined our PTA, please reconsider joining us and showing your support. PTA membership is not limited to only parents and guardians of FRES students. Grandparents and other family members are welcome to become PTA members too!
Our school and community are fortunate to have a very active PTA which includes FRES parents, family members, teachers and staff. Yes, grandparents or other family members are welcome to become PTA members. Every member counts!! It shows the Howard County BOE that the parents, teachers and staff at Forest Ridge are very involved and supportive of our school and students.
Can’t make it to one of our PTA meetings? We love to see our members and community at our monthly general meetings. But if your schedule doesn’t make that possible, we understand and we post meeting minutes on our PTA website (www.frespta.org) so you can catch up later. It’s not mandatory that as a PTA member, you attend all our PTA meetings. We also have a new PTA e-newsletter to keep you informed of all our PTA events. If you are interested becoming a PTA board officer in the future or chairing a committee, that’s great! Please note that the Howard County PTAC guidelines, which governs our local PTAs, requires you to be a current PTA member to do so. If becoming a PTA member is not the right for you this year, you can also help out in other ways as we have many PTA activities needing volunteers throughout the year.
