Girls on the Run starts Sept. 19 for girls in 3rd-5th grade!
Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls in grades 3-5. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development. The lessons promote self-challenge instead of competition, self-worth instead of societal worth, and cooperation instead of rivalry. The mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Registration is Now Open!
Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:45-5:00 p.m. at FRES beginning Sept. 19 and runs for 10 weeks—culminating in a 5K run Saturday, Dec. 2 in Howard County.
The cost is $175, and registration is limited to the first 20 girls. Girls interested in joining the program can sign up now! Questions about Girls on the Run can be directed to Natalie Pretzello, FRES band director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
