The FRES PTA is excited to announce that we are creating a cookbook filled with recipes from FRES families and staff to honor our rich diversity of cultures and celebrate 25 years of FRES pride! Each cookbook will be professionally printed and bound in an easy to read format. The cookbook will make a wonderful keepsake as well as a great gift for others, especially since students will be listed with their family recipes. Cookbooks will be sold for $7 each, and delivery is planned for spring.
Contribute Your Favorite Recipes
The most important part of the cookbook is your recipes! We would like each FRES family to submit at least one of their favorite original recipes from the following categories: Appetizers & Beverages, Soup & Salads, Vegetable & Side Dishes, Main Dishes, Breads & Rolls, Desserts, Cookies & Candy and This & That.
How to Submit Recipes
You can submit recipes in two ways. Simply complete the Recipe Collection Sheet. and return it to school with your student. Or, you can send an electronic version of your recipe to email@example.com. We will collect recipes until Dec. 15. When submitting your electronic recipes, please be sure to follow the instructions on the recipe collection sheet and include all ingredients, directions, your student’s name, the name of the person providing the recipe and their relationship to the student.
Students Are Invited to Submit Artwork for the Cookbook
Students are invited to create and submit their own artwork to be featured in the FRES cookbook as a custom recipe category divider. The divider design must be completed on a plain, white 8 ½” x 11” sheet of paper (using colors will come out best). Your student may use markers, crayons or colored pencils. It is up to your student to choose a theme and design for their divider using the following categories by grade:
Soup & Salads – 5th Grade
Vegetable & Side Dishes – 4th Grade
Main Dishes – 3rd Grade
Breads & Rolls – 2nd Grade
Desserts – 1st Grade
Cookies & Candy – Kindergarten
Students may include “FOREST RIDGE ELEMENTARY,” “FRES,” and/or Eddie the Eagle. Name, grade and teacher must be printed on the back of the artwork. All entries are due by Friday, Nov. 17. Winners will be selected at the December PTA meeting.
Any questions about the cookbook can be emailed to Jessica Petro at firstname.lastname@example.org.
