Executive Board

Our Board

Jen Renkevens
Jennifer looks forward to an exciting second year as president of FRES PTA. She has been highly active in the FRES community for six years through PTA and classroom volunteering. Before becoming president, Jen served as 2nd VP and chaired the Spiritwear, teacher appreciation and ice cream social committees. She enjoys helping out wherever needed. She looks forward to working closely with teachers, parents and administration to continue some of the great activities and programs the FRES PTA has to offer while implementing new ideas to benefit our students and staff of FRES.

Jen is married to her husband, Tom, and they have two beautiful daughters. Their oldest is a 7th grader at Patuxent Valley Middle School and their youngest is in the 3rd grade. Before making the decision to stay home with their girls, Jen taught third grade in Howard County schools for several years and has even more years of early childhood experience. Besides her involvement in FRES, she and her family are highly involved in their church, and Jen is the leader of both of the girl's Girl Scout troops. In her "spare time" she likes to walk, camp, scrapbook, quilt and occasionally, read.
Penny Keller
1st Vice President
Penny is excited to be serving as the FRES PTA 1st vice president. She have been a FRES parent since 2014 and has enjoyed being involved in the school and PTA activities for the past three years. She was been responsible for the PTA yearbook committee and has volunteered in various PTA activities, as well as volunteered in the classroom at the school.

Penny works for the federal government and struggles with trying to balance family, community and work. She is looking forward to a great year and working with all the FRES students, families and staff in the coming school year.
Tangie Smith
2nd Vice President
Tangie is serving in her second year as 2nd vice president. As part of her role, she will be heading up the website, social media and after school programs.

Prior to joining the board, Tangie volunteered in the classroom and in PTA activities for the past four years and also served on the yearbook and nomination committees in 2016. She works as a communications consultant and looks forward to using her skills to continue the current PTA programs, improve communication and cultivate relationships with families.

A resident of the FRES community since 2000, Tangie is married to Brian, and they have three daughters at FRES — a 4th grader, a 2nd grader and Kindergartener. A self-described “Terp for Life,” Tangie was born and raised in Maryland and is a proud alum of the University of Maryland. She enjoys exercise, books, museums, wine, theater and music. When she has free time, you can sometimes find her listening to podcasts. But, usually she is watching too much Netflix.
